O’Brien Auto giving away car to UHS student “In Good Standing”

From the press release:

O’Brien Auto Park of Urbana to donate vehicle to Urbana High School for student “In Good Standing”

Urbana – As part of the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the Urbana High School, O’Brien Auto Park of Urbana is partnering with UHS for their “In Good Standing” program.  This program will have eligible students in a drawing for a car donated by O’Brien Auto Park at the end of the 2014-15 school year.

O’Brien Auto Park of Urbana will donate a vehicle ($5,000 value) at the end of the year to a student who has met the criteria set by Urbana High School, to be considered “In Good Standing”.  “We are excited to be a part of a program that supports Urbana High School students and works to reward positive behavior,” said Jim Turner, President of O’Brien Auto Park.  “We believe that encouraging and rewarding this kind of upstanding behavior will lead to those students making better choices in the years to come. Encouraging productive and positive citizens is a win for both the students and the community in which they reside.”

“We are very excited to have O’Brien Auto Park as a community partner with us to help celebrate 100 years and also help reward our students for doing things that will help make them successful now and in the future,” said UHS Principal Matt Stark.

“In Good Standing” is a new designation that all students at Urbana High School are eligible to achieve. On a weekly basis, if a student is passing at least 5 classes, have no unexcused absences, have no delinquent detentions, and no referrals for the previous week, they are “In Good Standing.”  Recognition and other rewards will be provided to these students on a monthly basis, cumulating with the end-of-year drawing for the O’Brien Auto Park donated-vehicle. “In Good Standing is a pulling together of academic, behavioral, and attendance data, things that we have always emphasized with our students,” explained Principal Stark.  “This program tracks those behaviors and it gives our students a pro-active stance on positive outcomes.  Our hope is, by pulling this together, we can assist students in staying in good standing.”
