Trying to be kind

I was taught from a young age that if I didn’t have something nice to say that I should not say anything at all. With that in mind, here’s all the nice things I have to say about Illinois’s performance in its 30-14 loss to Iowa on Saturday.

The Illinois defense had three stops on fourth down, halting Iowa’s momentum and giving the offense a chance to succeed. Those stops almost certainly led to Illinois’s lead after the first quarter, 7-2, and to Iowa only managing 9 first half points on 294 yards.

Mike Dudek is a special player; he made a mind-bogglingly difficult catch for the first Illini touchdown (thanks to a perfect throw from Wes Lunt, it should be noted) and then got himself wide open for the other Illini touchdown of the game. He plays much bigger than 5’11” 185, evident by the fact that he already owns the record for receiving yards by a freshman. He has the talent to be a very special player for Illinois in his three or four years here.

Illinois led Iowa in at least one category, penalties, racking up eight to the Hawkeye’s one… but I think I’ve just strayed from saying nice things, so let’s just wrap this article up. Enjoy the great pictures!
