There are many steps in the waiting process, and the schedule for the Pygmalion Music Festival is one of the best hurdles to get over in anticipation for the festival itself. So this article might make the wait for September a little easier. Below is the full schedule for this year’s festival, and it contains some pretty awesome additions, including a few bigs adds in Lower Dens and Unknown Mortal Orchestra (they played in 2011, so are back for another go at things). Other acts added include Purling Hiss, The Henry Clay People, Cold Showers, Cameron McGill, Motes, Louise, Jet W. Lee, Mille Nomi, and Bestfriends.
Like last year, this year’s schedule is relatively conflict-free. You can take a look below, over at Pygmalion’s site, or here via PDF to print it off to start mulling over which shows you’re marking down on your own personal schedule. Outdoor shows are taking charge this year, with not one, but two stages on Saturday featuring Grizzly Bear, Dinosaur Jr., Cloud Nothings, and others + locals. Downtown Urbana gets a stage this year as well (next to Black Dog), featuring headiner Dirty Projectors with Tennis and Psychic Twin prior to the start of the shows over at Canopy Club featuring Best Coast, Laetitia Sadier, Lord Huron, and others.
Not shocking that there aren’t any shows at Cafe Paradiso after last year’s issues at the Jessica Lea Mayfield show. Sadly absent again this year are shows in the Krannert Theater where Roky Erickson & Okkervil River and Ted Leo played a few years back, however, I’ll trade that for shows at Channing-Murray any day.
Anyways, here you have it. Only 45 days left to wait, so yes, we’re counting.
