Chicago’s skuzz rock outfit Twin Peaks are back through the region this week, this time performing over in Bloomington after hitting Champaign a handful of times before that (most recently at the Accord in 2016). They’re joined by Nectar, which just celebrated thier album release show at the Iron Post last week with Flasher.

Blackbird continues their free music Thursdays, this time with the truest Urbana folk, Bones Jugs. They’re releasing their new EP, Rag Day 2, and they have a new line up, incorporating new instrumentation. If you’re looking for a new-ish version of Bones Jugs, hit this one on Thursday.

Record Store Day 2018 is on Saturday, and Exile has two stages of live music planned this year —Bashful Youngens, Melvin Knight and the Amber Sky, V.V. Lightboyd, Ryan Groff, and many more will perform throughout the day in Downtown Champaign. As of last Friday, Exile had reached their goal for their GoFundMe campaign, which means good things for RSD goers this year.

V.V. Lightbody is Vivian McConnell’s solo project, and she’s going to be releasing her brand new record Bathing Peach soon enough. While she’s down in Champaign-Urbana, she’s performing at this awesome space with Ryan Groff (of Elsinore) and Minor Moon. Check her out here, or at Exile for RSD, if you’re into it.

Kilborn Alley Blues Band is celebrating their 18th anniversary on Saturday night at the Iron Post. They have been slugging it out for a while now, and it isn’t surprising to see this one land at the Post on Saturday.

Reginald Chapman’s Pressure Fit was an outfit I highlighted recently, and they are performing on Sunday with the very talented Melvin Knight. Knight and the Amber Sky just released a new music video as well, so check that one out, and head here for a nice Sunday show.
