Local punks Horrible Things head up this show on Wednesday night. They’re joined by three others, and it’s hard to believe it’s been almost exactly two years since their most recent album, Dumb Days, came out. Check that out before you head over to this one.

WHAT: Deena Shoshkes, Jeff Arrigo

WHERE: The Clark Bar

WHEN: Thursday, April 24th at 6:30 p.m.

Singer-songwriter Deena Shoshkes is coming into town and performing at the Clark Bar on Thursday night with local Jeff Arrigo. She is the founding member of the Cucumbers, an indie rock band that was successful in the 1980s, and she just released her second full length record, Rock River. Check back later this week for Mark’s interview with Shoshkes.

Detroit rapper Danny Brown has a tour date routed through this week for the Canopy Club, and after a string of two successful releases, he’s one of the best rappers in the game right now. His 2013 release Old was a solid release after his 2011 mixtape XXX put him on the map.

WHAT: We the Animals, Gloom Balloon, Christpher the Conquered, Isaac Arms

New-ish local indie rock band We the Animals takes on MNM’s on Thursday night, and they’re joined by a trio of bands to fill out the bill. Check back later this week as we speak with the band prior to this show.

The Brass Rail — Thursday, April 24th at 9 p.m.

Shows at the Brass Rail are always a treat, and this week we’re getting one of those treats. Terminus Victor heads up the show, and this is what we call a seriously rock ‘n roll heavy bill with Thundertruck and Bookmobile set to play as well. Definitely not a show with a lot of flash, but one that will definitely rock. Quality local bands and music at a dive bar? I’m sold.
