WEFT features Live Thru Wednesday, all the way from Westville, this Monday as part of their famous WEFT Sessions. You can personally attend the event at the station or tune in to 90.1 FM. Live Thru Wednesday has a unique rock/reggae sound but covers a variety of tunes, this should be a good one.

Nick Ailes hosts open mic night at Memphis on Main, one of the newer open mics in town. This open mic will be limited to live music, no backing tracks. Make this your second open mic of the week, bring friends and enjoy local music.

Cowboy Monkey brings you a DJ and MC competition accompanied by plenty of live performances. This week represents the final four of both the DJ and MC tournament. Final four battles consist of MCs: Teach vs Blackmage and Cornbread (C.T.C.) vs Desi Baker, DJs: Forrest Bump vs Monstreau and DJ Blee vs Shane Canfield.

Just like every other Friday during the summer, 40 North brings the finest musical entertainment to the street corners of downtown Champaign. Every Friday features different local musicians and bands performing as street goers have the option of taking it in from the street side or sitting on one of the many restaurant patios. WHAT: Township, Delinquents on Tour! ft. 7 Daze and The Lung Darts!

WHERE: Blips and Chitz ($5 suggested donation for touring bands)

Township and Delinquents both from Wisconsin come through Blips and Chitz on their summer tour. Locals 7 Daze and The Lung Darts also there for support. If you’re a fan of punk/emo, make sure to be there.

WHAT: Moe Pesci “My Lethal Cousin Tommy Santoro” Release

WHERE: The Canopy Club ($5 in advance, $7 

at the door)

WHEN: Friday, Jul 14th at 9 p.m.

This show serves as a party for Moe Pesci’s release of his music video for his song, “My Lethal Cousin Tommy Santoro.” Prior to the release, there will be plenty of performances. The lineup currently consists of Grady, Uno, Patrick, Tokyo, Cornbread 217, Young Club, Black Mage, M.A.G. and 94 Cove. Definitely worth the $5 or $7 entry fee.

Locals Grand Ambassador and Sleeping Okami are joined by Bloomington residents, Black Esther. This will be one for the books, every band can easily get you on your feet, so be prepared to have a good time, and at a steal of only $5.

The second half of Streetfest takes place this Saturday featuring Jordan & Jill, Nickel and Dimes, and The Brat Pack. Take your second chance to enjoy the Streetfest, giving you the opportunity to take in local music from the street side while enjoying some of C-U’s best food and drinks.

WHERE: The Iron Post

WHEN: Saturday, July 15th at 9 p.m.

Venture over to The Iron Post to see these two play a wide variety of songs. They’ll be playing for three hours to feel free to stop in for any amount of time and don’t forget to grab a beer and enjoy the outdoor patio as well.
