The Overture: June 30-July 6

WHAT: Audiofeed Music Festival

WHERE: Champaign County Fairgrounds ($30)

WHEN: Wednesday, July 2nd through Saturday, July 6th

The Audiofeed Music Festival is back again for year two after their first installment of the festival happened last July. You can check out all the artists performing in the SPlog post from a short while back, as there are plenty of them coming through for this. Yes, this is a camping-style festival, so that is something to factor in if you’re interested in attending.

WHEN: Wednesday, July 2nd at 6 p.m.

Mathew posted about this benefit for the Prairie Ensemble, but there will be a cabaret-style fundraising event on Wednesday to this chamber orchestra before their final concert. It’ll take place at the home of Geoff & Ann Poor.

EDITOR’S PICK: SHADOWS ON A RIVER, SECONDARY MODERN, EMILY OTNES & THE WEEKDAYS
Mike ‘N Molly’s ($7) — Thursday, July 3rd at 8 p.m.

This show will act as a farewell for a solid local band for an extended period of time, as Shadows on a River will be hanging it up for some time. They’ve recently wrapped up their new record, and they’ll be performing tracks from that as well as others from their short-but-sweet catalog on Thursday evening. Check back later this week, as we’ll be talking to them about all of this before they hang it up for a while.

They’ll be joined by a couple of other solid acts, including Secondary Modern, as well as Emily Otnes & the Weekdays. Great bill top to bottom for this Thursday in the Mike ‘N Molly’s beergarden.

WHAT: Spindependence Festival

WHERE: Cowboy Monkey, The Highdive, Soma

WHEN: Thursday, July 3rd and Friday, July 4th

Dozens of DJs will be invading C-U for Spindependence Day weekend, taking place at a few venues around Downtown Champaign. You can check out all the DJs that will be performing over at the Facebook event linked above.

WHAT: Andy Duncanson

WHERE: The Iron Post

WHEN: Friday, July 4th at 5 p.m.

Although I’m not sure if there is a price tag on this show, Kilborn Alley’s frontman Andy Duncanson will be performing on Friday evening at the Iron Post. There will be BBQ available as well, so if you’re looking for some good music and food (combined into one spot), this might be your best bet.

WHAT: Hank., Animals in Human Attire, Woodie

WHERE: Mike ‘N Molly’s ($7)

WHEN: Saturday, July 5th at 9 p.m.

Another “last show” happening on Saturday evening at Mike ‘N Molly’s. Hank. is calling it quits, which is a shame, but life will go on, and the members are in plenty of other outfits that are worth paying attention to moving forward as well. They’re joined by Woodie and Animals in Human Attire to round things out.

WHAT: Chachi and the Bandidos

WHERE: The Iron Post

WHEN: Saturday, July 5th at 9:30 p.m.

Some country music for your ears at the Iron Post on Saturday evening. Check out Chachi and the Bandidos, which is apparently their “first headlining bill” — so there’s that.
