A Monday evening show at The Accord opens up the week of shows with The Helio Sequence, a band out of Oregon and members of Sub Pop Records. Their latest self-titled record came out last year, and they’re joined by a couple of locals — rock outfit The Inn Keepers, and an electro project called GOGETUM.

WHAT: Guided By Voices, The Dirty Feathers

Prepare yourselves for a sweaty one: Guided By Voices is the project led by Robert Pollard — and they have a set of about 50 songs. No joke. Local garage rockers The Dirty Feathers open this one up.

WHERE: The Canopy Club ($21)

WHEN: Tuesday, May 3rd at 10 p.m.

Last year, Jeremih’s much anticipated release Late Nights: The Album came out — and it is terrific R&B worth your time. It was one of the best albums to come out all of last year, and his stop at Canopy should be a good one.

WHAT: Kayla and the Moonlace Band, Slick Lisp, Total Disconnect

WHERE: The Accord ($7)

WHEN: Wednesday, May 4th at 8 p.m.

A trio of local acts will play a mid-week show at The Accord for a handful of dollars, and they’re listed above. A good varation of rock and some other sounds mixed in for a few new faces you might not’ve seen before.

WHERE: Institute 4 Creativity ($5)

This all-ages space will have a few bands playing on Wednesday night, including KC’s Trapper, locals The Phantom Broadcast and Nick Rainey, plus Philly’s Kississippi.

Local staple Sun Stereo will perform as a promotional series for Summer Camp Music Festival, which is happening in just a few short weeks in Chillicothe. Good drink deals and good vibes.

Jamesty 3 is what this show is being called, and it is acting as a benefit to support R.A.C.E.S. $5, and a handful of bands in a big ugly rectangle.

The Good Life is the project by Tim Kasher of Cursive, and they make their way back through C-U on Thursday evening. They’re joined by Tim Kinsella (Joan of Arc, Cap’n Jazz), and local indie rock outfit Single Player. Find your favorites from Saddle Creek, turn them on this week in anticipation, and go see this one.

The rapper B.o.B. is… an interesting fella. He was here last year for the Illinois Spring Jam, and he’s back — this time at Canopy Club on Thursday night.

WHAT: Paul Cebar Tomorrow Sound, West of Staley

WHERE: Allerton Park ($5-10)

WHEN: Friday, May 6th at 6 p.m.

Allerton Park’s 2016 Kick Off Concert takes place this Friday evening and will feature the jazz combo West of Staley, and headlined by Paul Cebar Tomorrow Sound. By the looks of it, this is a great opportunity for a family evening at Allerton.

When it was initially announced — this bill was stacked enough with Elsinore, The Besnard Lakes, and J Fernandez. However, it bulked up a bit a few weeks back when San Fermin was added as the show’s headliner. Have a ball on a Friday night with these four, though remember — show starts at 7:30 p.m.

WHAT: Here Come The Mummies

Here Come the Mummies is an eight-piece funk-rock band of 5000 year-old Egyptian Mummies with a one-track mind — they make their return to C-U on Friday night at Canopy Club.

Post-rock outfit Take Care has been pretty active as of late, and they’re playing their final show at Mike N Molly’s on Friday night. Earthholder will release their new album at this show as well.

Arunapalooza at Canopy Club will have Colony House as a headliner for this show, in which the profits will go towards the C-U Aruna Run to benefit the Aruna Project, a non-profit that battles human trafficking trade in Southeast Asia.

Evil Tents are reuniting as Heirship Records presents this bill on Saturday evening. They called it quits (sort of) a few years ago, but for the sake of MNMs closing, they’re going to give it a whirl this weekend. WHERE: The Accord ($20)

WHEN: Sunday, May 8th at 8 p.m.

Local H will be performing their staple record As Good As Dead (plus more) on Sunday night at The Accord. This comes with news that original Local H drummer, Joe Daniels, will join the current two-man line-up (frontman Scott Lucas and drummer Ryan Harding) for a spring tour to mark the 20th anniversary of the band’s breakthrough album.
