Way Down Wanderers have been blowing up lately, building a massive following in Central Illinois. Now, the kids are back for their tour kickoff at Canopy Club.

The inaugural C-U Jazz Festival is a two-day, multi-venue festival that seeks to showcase all of the jazz that Champaign-Urbana has to offer, and boy, there’s a lot. Find the full schedule in the link above.

Whenver punk rockers Roberta Sparrow hit Mike N Molly’s, it’s sure to be a great time – I’ve seen these guys there 3 times and they never, ever disappoint.

WHERE: The Highdive ($15)

After the festival’s over, The Pygmalion Show Series just keeps going, and this weekend’s installment includes emo rockers Cursive, from Omaha, Nebraska. With shoegazey local heavy-hitters Withershins and Springfield-based Looming opening, this show is sure to send reverberations throughout Champaign-Urbana.

This will be 50 Year Storm’s last show, though it is comprised of members of Roberta Sparrow, Heel Turn and Vice Dolls. If you’re into more Urbana house shows, this one’s definitely for you.

Definitely the best band name in this week’s Overture goes to Snail Inhalers. Second place goes to bristle’s old name: Simple Biscuit People.
