The Illinois Flamenco-Jazz Project (feat. David Chiriboga)

If you miss Monday’s opportunity to hear Chiriboga, then you really want to come check out this even at the Spurlock Museum on UIUC’s campus. This flamenco-jazz fusion concert will feature the Illinois Jazz Study students playing with Chiriboga with Patricia Ortega on vocals. This will be a great opportunity to hear traditional flamenco pieces from Andalusia, Spanish folk songs, and some of Chiriboga’s compositions expanded to a full ensemble.

Good Morning Bedlam, Stone & Snow

If you have a chance to make it on out to Bloomington this Thursday, then you won’t want to miss this show. Good Morning Bedlam, known for their high-energy playing, is one of the growing names in the midwest folk scene. Stone & Snow, winners of the 2019 NAMM John Lennon Songwriting Contest, are sure to blow you away.

Wreck the Stage (competition, Champaign Cypher Series)

► The Canopy Club // $10 // 8 p.m.

This will probably be the most exciting musical event of the whole week. Wreck the Stage will feature over a dozen local CU artists putting it all out on the line to win a spot to open for Montana of 300 at Hollowicked next weekend. This will definitely be a night of showmanship and craft you won’t want to miss.

If you find yourself feeling a little caged-in and want to head out of town, but not too far, you should really head over to Philo and see this Front Porch concert featuring Abram Shook, Narrow/Arrow, and a solo set by Jonathan Hape. From Mansfield, OH (near my old stomping grounds) Narrow/Arrow is bringing some Math Rock our way. If you like Local Natives, but wish they gave you just a little bit more, you’ll love Narrow/Arrow.
