WHAT: The Wild Family, Justin Rondon, Penny Horses

A trio of folk-ish outfits will get together for this one, as Chicago’s Wild Family will head it up. They were named Chicago’s Best Emerging Artist in 2013 by Deli Magazine, and they released an EP earlier this year. They’re on a bit of a small tour around these parts.

WHAT: Miles Nielsen & the Rusted Hearts, Rebecca Rego & The Trainmen, The Fights

Miles Niesel & The Rusted Hearts are back in town, as they are no strangers to C-U and performing here. They’re joined by local-ish crew Rebecca Rego & The Trainmen, as well as alt-country dudes The Fights.

Hi Ho Buffalo is a local-Western style-inspirited project, and they’re joined by Americana outfit Teaspoon Hunter, and local singer-songwriter John Coppess.

Wild On Fall Tour will be stopping through at the Canopy Club, and this show features DJs Milk ‘N Cookies, who are no strangers to C-U and have performed at the Club many times. They’re joined by Jack Eye Jones.

You most likely recall Emily Otnes & The Weekdays — but that band is now called Tara Terra, and they are performing this weekend. They just released their record, Daughter, which we will take a look at later this week. They’re joined by Plains and Bloomington’s Alex & The XOs.

The Highdive ($12) — Satuday, October 4th at 7:30 p.m.

Although The Pygmalion Festival has come and gone, and what a weekend that was, there is another Show Series installment happening later this week. Saturday’s show features Chicago’s Maps & Atlases. They have an interesting combination of progressive rock and math rock, amongst plenty of other influences that are worth paying attention to. They’re joined by new-ish local outfit Capys, which fall within the same vein as Maps & Atlases.
