When you are the best around, the compliments come frequently and without much fanfare. So, bacaro wasn’t listed as part of the BEST this year because, well, it’s kind of hard to keep just saying that many nice things about the crew that runs the upscale, yet wildly casual, restaurant in Downtown Champaign.
But, I saw this on Facebook, and I felt like it was worth recognizing. It’s partially just a personal opinion, since the dish in question is one of my absolute most favorite things in the world, but here you are….

Soft shell crab sandwich at bacaro
I haven’t eaten it yet, but Jesus, of course it’s going to be the best. Look at it. So simple, and perfect in every way. The price tag seems a touch steep at first glance, but if you can spend $13.50 on a cheeseburger and fries in Champaign then you can spend $15 on a fresh soft shell crab sandwich here, too.
This is only being served this Friday, June 6, 2014 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. It’s going to be very hard for me to simply not order two of them. Goddamnit. (SF)
