Anita Purves Nature Center and Busey Woods are gems, and were a favorite field trip spot for my kids when they were little.

The nature center, named for the late Anita Purves, an Urbana woman who was quite active in the Urbana Park District and a lover of Busey Woods, opened in 1979. To celebrate the anniversary, they’ve slated a full calendar of programming that pays homage to popular programs through the 40 years of its existence. You can check out that list here.
