Carle, developers move forward with West Champaign “Carle at the Fields” plan

Carle at the Fields building construction and retail development continue to progress on schedule. This week, Carle leaders and partnering developers will present plans for retail businesses and public spaces at the corner of Staley and Curtis roads in Champaign. The retail area will be built out with commercial businesses including shops, restaurants and a hotel. 

Green Street Realty plans to begin construction this fall on two mixed-use buildings in the area. The development will consist of two identical three-story buildings with 25,828 square feet of retail and office space available for lease. This will include 56 one- and two-bedroom apartment units. The 4.1-acre site will feature a 10,000-square-foot plaza in the Town Center to serve as a gathering place for community events.

Area hotel developer Steve Horve committed to building an 80-room Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton® hotel within the development space. The hotel will also offer eight extended-stay suites, a state-of-the-art fitness center, a swimming pool and meeting space. This location will be the fourth Hilton-branded hotel in Champaign built by Horve Hospitality Management, Inc.

A mixed-use development will add value for nearby residential areas, visitors, Carle employees and support overall economic development in the community.

In addition to the administrative building, Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) construction will begin this summer, and two new medical office buildings adjacent to the ASC are planned pending Certificate of Need approval.
