As you’ve probably already noticed, Smile Politely now requires registration in order to comment on articles. For those of you who already log in to comment, nothing will change. For those of you accustomed to commenting without logging in, we don’t require personal information other than your e-mail address, but you will have to provide a legitimate one in order to create an account.
This policy will drastically cut down on spam, and will help with general management of the site.
We apologize for implementing this policy so quickly and with no announcement beforehand, but yesterday, some spam hit the front page that included references to alleged child pornography, and we were forced to act swiftly.
