The School of Social Work at the University of Illinois has a few offerings coming up this week that might interest you. The first is their annual conference Student-Focused HEALS Policy and Practice Conference, and the other is a workshop on workshop on media-related topics. Featured Keynote Speaker: Illinois State Senator Omar Aquino

This FREE educational event is designed for students, faculty, alumni, and community members in partnership with local and state stakeholders to discuss young adult health and wellness, advocacy, and financial literacy. While many other developmental age groups receive special attention regarding their health concerns, young adult healthcare issues are often overlooked. At this conference, attendees will be able to examine health issues that are specific to the young adult population and learn how to advocate for beneficial legislation.

This conference is planned and organized by University of Illinois School of Social Work Healthcare Education and Leadership Scholars (HEALS) students in collaboration with other social work students, faculty, and guests.

Featured Keynote Speaker: Dr. Mike Yao, University of Illinois, College of Media

This FREE educational event is sponsored by the University of Illinois School of Social Work’s Community Learning Lab and is a collaboration with the University of Illinois College of Media’s Dr. Yao. Yao will be leading a 2-hour workshop on media-related topics pre-determined by community partners, per requests for assistance with social media aspects of managing nonprofits and other community organizations.

49 people from 38 different local organizations (primarily nonprofits) have registered.
This event will take place from 9:30 a.m.-11:30 p.m. on Friday, April 19th, 2019 at the Champaign Public Library.

UPDATE: 4:12 pm: The Community Learning Lab Thank You Workshop is full, but still worth a mention nonetheless.
