City of Champaign announces spring yard waste pickup dates

The City of Champaign has announced the dates that they will be picking up spring yard waste as you start to hollow out from the (relatively tame) winter.

Spring Yard Waste Pickup Dates Announced

Champaign’s Spring Yard Waste Collection is scheduled to begin with the Orange Zone on Monday, March 27, with Blue Zone collections commencing on Monday, April 3. Collections will continue to alternate on subsequent weeks through April 21. The collection is available to all residential properties within the City limits.

Collection ScheduleYard waste must be placed in 30-gallon paper yard waste bags. NO plastic bags or containers will be collected.

Twigs and branches may be bundled with non-metallic twine or placed in paper yard waste bags. Branches cannot be larger than 2 inches in diameter or 3 1/2 feet long.  Bundles cannot be larger than 18 inches in diameter.

Materials must be placed within 5 feet of the curb of a public street by 6 a.m. to ensure pickup on your scheduled day. Do not place materials near trees, light poles, power poles, mailboxes or other hazards.

On heavier collection days, pickups may be later than normal or even the next day. If your materials have not been collected by the day after your scheduled collection, please contact Public Works at 217-403-4776.
