Echoes of Emmett taking place May 8th

This teen public showcase brings together middle through high school aged students from across the diverse, C-U community around the themes that are present in the Emmett Till story so that their voices can be heard through the art they create.

The Echoes of Emmett workshops are a collaboration between local teens with the most vibrant local artists, painters, performance artists, hip hop artists, film producers, professors, teachers, African American historians, and Black Lives Matter activists to create works to be showcased.

This event intends to unite the diverse C-U community for a night of healing and learning through art, activism, music and faith. It intends to honor the mothers who have invested so deeply in the children and the neighborhoods of these towns.

  • Sunday, May 8th at 6 pm
  • Orpheum Children’s Science Museum 346 N. Neil St. Champaign
  • Free for kids 18 and under, $5 for college students, $8 for adults, donations welcome
