Here are a couple of opportunities to meet local candidates

Yep, it’s election time again! This time is a municipal election, so you will be voting for school board members, park commissioners, city council members, and in Champaign you’ll be voting for mayor. We get all jazzed up for federal and state elections, but these local elections are also immensely important, as these elected officials will make choices and policies that affect our day to day lives.

CU Indivisible, The People’s Agenda, and Champaign County Young Democrats are hosting two Candidate Meet & Greets in March, one for Champaign and one for Urbana. Each will begin with a primer on what the municipal elections are all about, and then candidates will share their positions and talk with attendees.

All candidates have been invited, and you can keep up with who will be attending by following the Facebook events.

Champaign Meet & Greet

March 2nd, 2 to 5 p.m., Champaign Public Library

Urbana Meet & Greet

March 9th, 2 to 4 p.m., Urbana Free Library
