Yesterday, the City of Champaign broke ground on what will become an Aloft Hotel, a brand by Marriott, which is going in at 401 N. Neil Street in Downtown Champaign “by the end of 2020” according to The News-Gazette‘s report. It was announced back in March that it would in fact be an Aloft Hotel rather than the original plan of Hotel VIB from back in 2017.
The Gazoo‘s report states that the hotel will feature 132 rooms and a bar named WXYZ “will be right on the corner and have outdoor seating and performances from local musicians.”
