Jesus Lizard and Tortoise + tune into WEFT from 6-8 p.m. tonight!

Hey, y’all. I’m training as an airshifter at WEFT. Dave Witzany was kind enough to let me sit in on his show tonight and told me Wednesday that he’d be happy to have me program a set.

If you’re not familiar with it, Dave’s show, “We’re Only In It For The Music”, features bands that are coming to play live in C-U and our region. I thought I would put together a setlist for Friday night at the Pitchfork Music Festival. The festival is six weeks away (17-19 July, Union Park, Chicago) and it’s sold out every year, so this is the time to get on board if you want to go. Built to Spill, Yo La Tengo, Tortoise, and the Jesus Lizard will be playing setlists that the audience decides ahead of time. When you buy tickets, your confirmation email includes a link that lets you vote on which songs you want to hear. The top songs out of that election will make up each band’s set that glorious night.

I know and love Built to Spill and Yo La Tengo and have already picked what I want to play from each of their back catalogs. But I don’t know The Jesus Lizard and Tortoise at all. If you have favorite tracks of theirs (N.B. They Have To Be Radio Friendly – no cursing, cause I don’t have time to bleep them), then I could really use your help. And tune in to 90.1 FM tonight! I’ll be on the air from 6-8 p.m. with Dave, who is very up on the local scene and will help you get clued in to the great bands and solo artists coming through in the near to medium term. For myself, I would love feedback on my first set, plus you’ll learn my DJ name and the story behind it.
