Okay, this is for sure not your typical “let’s go out and have a good time” kind of Saturday evening event, but it’s one that addresses an important topic. Plus you’ll be downtown Urbana and can go have yourself a little party afterward.
The IMC is partnering with the Champaign County Bailout Coalition for the talk given by Dr. Rebekah Buchanan, Associate Professor and Director of English Education at Western Illinois University. Through her work as a Fulbright Roving Scholar she became well-acquainted with the Norwegian prison system and their focus on resoration and rehabilition, as well as their practice of “No Bail No Jail.”
The event is from 7 to 9:30 p.m., and is free, but donations will be accepted for CCBC to continue to help with bail for those incarcerated in the Champaign County Jail.
