Motes announce their return to the studio, share demo track

Indie powerhouse Motes have announced that they’ll be returning to the studio to begin tracking their sophomore LP. This will be the follow-up to Keep It In The Dark, their highly lauded debut full-length that SP ranked as the best local album of 2015. To celebrate this announcement, the trio have released an exclusive demo. Multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Elizabeth Majerus commented on the song “Salt” below:

“’Salt’ is dear to my heart. It’s very fun to play on guitar, has a swinging, tinkling, rushing water feel that I think fits well with the lyrical themes. And I also enjoy the way the lyrics take me on a trip in my imagination every time I sing them. The song is a trip inside each of us, but takes us out of ourselves and across the universe (so to speak) as well. It’s flowing water and a cascade of diamonds, but diamonds that are empowered and for themselves, not for us humans and our egos. “

Listen to “Salt” below, and catch Motes Saturday night at Cowboy Monkey, where they’ll be playing with Sunset and Unknown Pleasures.
