New Community Education classes available for Spring

Registration for Parkland College Community Education spring classes is now underway, with a brand new lineup of courses, workshops, and cultural events for the New Year. 

Community residents can use Parkland’s spring 2016 noncredit schedule to plan out how to keep their New Year’s resolutions, such as getting in shape, learning a new skill, or making general improvements to their lives. The schedule offers dozens of noncredit classes for personal enrichment, travel, and just plain fun, for all ages. 

Parkland’s upcoming lineup of fitness, skill-building, and general improvement classes includes the following new classes and favorites. To register, call Parkland College Community Education at 217/353-2055 or go online to www.parkland.edu/communityed.

New Courses

PiYo
A muscle-sculpting and core-firming combination of Pilates strength and Yoga flexibility.

Pickle It!
A simple preserving process for sweet, spicy, or savory foods.

Dressing Downton
As Downton Abbey fans say goodbye to Lady Mary, Carson, and Mrs. Hughes, take a trip to the Driehaus Museum in Chicago to see the brilliant costume designs from this popular PBS series.

Get in Shape 

Reach your fitness goals through the following group classes that offer the motivation and accountability to help you stick with your plan: PiYo, Pilates, Flow Yoga, Core and More, Cycling, Walk Fit, Interval Conditioning, Keys to Better Balance, Tai Chi, and Water Aerobics. If a group class isn’t your speed, join the Parkland Fitness Center to utilize cardio and strength training equipment, complete with an indoor walking track.

Express your artistic talent with these spring classes:

Beginner Beading
Stringing, knotting, and wire work with the addition of color theory, composition and scale will enable you to make beautiful creations.

Coloring for Adults: Creative Stress Relief
Relax and enjoy the basics of color mixing and mark-making techniques with enough theory and critique to make coloring seem more adult than just plain fun.

Zentangle
Discover this intriguing and meditative art as you “tangle” patterns together to create elaborate designs.
