Parkland College hosting Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration

The 15th Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Countywide Celebration to honor Martin Luther King Jr. and others who practice his beliefs in their community will take place at Parkland College on January 15th at 4:00 p.m.

“Investing In The Wealth Of Diversity In Our Community”

The Keynote Presenter is Ms. Kathryn Harris, who will portray the legendary Ms. Harriett Tubman, and relay Ms. Tubman’s experiences as a “conductor” for the antebellum Underground Railroad.

The purpose of this event is to celebrate the life of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and to recognize and honor individuals/organizations who have made many contributions to their community in the areas of civil rights, human rights and humanitarian efforts.

2016 Award Recipients:

~ Rohn Koester – Doris Hoskins Prestigious Community Service Award

~ Melany Jackson – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Outstanding Achievement Award
