After the news came earlier today that Bill Cubit was out as the head coach of Illini Football — reports are coming out that say Lovie Smith is “expected” to be named head coach. New AD Josh Whitman isn’t wasting any time.

We will keep this updated, but it is looking more and more likely that the former Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Bucs coach will be heading to Champaign soon.
