Run and eat a cupcake to benefit Champaign-Urbana Special Recreation

Champaign Park District is hosting their annual CUSR Cupcake 5K on November 4th at 9 a.m. to help provide scholarship for those who would like to participate in Champaign-Urbana Special Recreation programming, but have finanical hardship. The event will take place at Dodds Park.

So yes, you have to run (or walk or wheel) 3 miles, but you get rewarded with a cupcake and the knowledge that you are helping others in our community. The race route is accessible, so wheelchairs and strollers are welcome, and it will be timed if you’re interested in keeping track of such things.

It’s only $5 to partcipate, and you can sign up here. Have a young one who would rather do a short race to the cupcake? There is also a 100 meter dash option that will take place at 10 a.m. Though all ages are welcome to participate in the longer race.

Also, you should definitely check out this awesome promo video created by Five Foot Productions, featuring CUSR athletes.
