Treat yourself to a hot bubble tea and a pastry fish filled with Nutella

While the students were away last week, I made my way to Campustown and ate at a bunch of places that are usually too crowded (and I’m too lazy) to visit.

Among them was Cocomero, perhaps my favorite spot for self-serve foyo, if only because the taro flavor is always available.

On this occassion, though, it was too cold for frozen treats. Instead I opted for a hot bubble tea (taro, obviously), and this new thing — the Coco Gold Fish. It’s bascially just a sweet hot pocket/toaster strudel, filled with cream cheese, Nutella, or red bean paste. It’s pressed into the shape of fish. I had the cream cheese one, and it was deliciously indulgent. It was fun to eat because it’s shaped like a fish, and also fun to eat because it was sweet and gooey. It’s good fun for kids and adults alike. The Coco Gold Fish is $4.50 — and a pretty good size — certainly shareable.

I know most people prefer cold bubble tea, but I like mine hot, and Cocomero does hot bubble tea right ($3.75 for 16oz).

Treat yourself. Embrace the culture of cute and enjoy eating something shaped like an animal.
