Two debates planned, venues uncertain—may be “the street”

In case you turned your head for a moment, we’ll get you up to speed: two debates between Champaign mayoral candidates are now planned: one sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Champaign County and NAACP and the other by the Junior Leage of Champaign-Urbana.

No dates, times, or locations have been released, but the JLCU event is scheduled for the week of March 14, per the Gerard campaign (H/T to Eric from Halfway Interesting for passing that along).

In case you missed WICD’s report from yesterday (memorably titled “Mayor Says He Will Debate In Street, After Canceling Debate”), it’s worth watching, if only to hear Schweighart say, “I’ll debate him in the street if I have to.” The blurb also promises that Schweighart “chirped in that Gerard ‘don’t scare him,'” but I didn’t hear that in the report. Oh, and when they condescendingly refer to “bloggers” who questioned Schweighart’s motivation, that’s us!
