You might remember the Kickstarter campaign that I posted about a few weeks back for local shoegazers WIthershins to fund their new record Mt. Fuji In Blue. Well, that campaign was funded, and now they’ve announced their releasing that record in partnership with Parasol Records on July 29th (Correction: Via Parasol — the release date is August 12th, as opposed to July 29th as originally reported). This is their follow up to 2012’s Silver Cities.

Withershins follow-up their 2012 full-length Silver Cities with new album Mt Fuji in Blue which will be released on DLP vinyl, CD and digital download on July 29th.
In early June the band completed a successful Kickstarter campaign to help fund the DLP vinyl pressing. Backers will be receiving downloads of the band’s previous album’s remaster, mixtapes made by the band, typed lyrics booklets, t-shirts, Mt Fuji demos, and recorded covers of backers’ choosing, amongst other goodies.
Withershins and Heirship Records will be collaborating with Parasol Label Group’s local music imprint Mud Records on the CD and digital formats.
First single from Mt Fuji in Blue is entitled “Aquamarine”, and is available for streaming now. Those fans who kicked in on the Kickstarter or who pre-order the album via Bandcamp will receive a download of “Aquamarine”.
After a weekend of shows with fellow Parasol artist Elsinore in July, Withershins will embark on a longer Midwest tour with likeminded Italian shoegazers Neiv in August, culminating with a hometown show in downtown Champaign at Mike N Molly’s with local dream-surfers Common Loon on August 16th.
