Next week starts the upcoming showing of the fifth season of ART21‘s programs on contemporary artists. Krannert Art Museum and the Art + Design department have organized a series of previews and discussions for anyone interested in learning more about art, the thought process of artists, and the artists themselves.
ART21 is a nationally praised PBS program on contemporary artists. In October, it will be presenting its fifth season on television. The School of Art and Design invites everyone to a pre-view celebration of the launch of the fifth season.
Each episode from the series will be previewed and followed by an open forum and question and answer session with local artists. Desserts and drinks will also be provided.
Here’s the list of artists (or go to ART21.org if you’re curious to learn more):
October 12: Cao Fei, Mary Heilmann, Jeff Koons, Florian Maier-Aichen.
October 19: Paul McCarthy, Cindy Sherman, Yinka Shonibare MBE.
October 26: John Baldessari, Kimsooja, Allan McCollum, Julie Mehretu.
The event will be held in room 107 of the Art & Design building, at 408 East Peabody Dr. on campus, on Mondays in October from 5 to 7 p.m.
