Urbana’s curbanas are back for patio season

Outdoor black patio tables sit empty on a sunny day.

Downtown Urbana’s curbanas are back in time for patio season. These temporary structures are enclosed seating areas on raised deck structures next to the sidewalks of Main Street. Find outside seating now in front of Sakura restaurant, El Paraiso restaurant, and Rick’s Bakery on one side of the street, Encanto Restaurant & Bar, Gallery Art Bar, and The Main Scoop ice cream parlor on the other side.

First introduced in 2014 (peep these old photos), Urbana’s curbanas reappeared on Main Street in 2021 during the pandemic. Each year, the cute set-up returns, marking the start of outdoor dining season and a sure sign that summer is a’coming.

In Downtown Urbana, temporary barriers with black patio furniture and blue umbrellas are out for the spring and summer season.
