Touring acts Rose Gold and Avoid are bringing some alterna-emo to Blips and Chitz, and they’ll be accompanied by local acts Radiation Babies and the appropriately titled metal band Not for The Faint of Heart.


WHAT: Prospect Management Artist Night

WHERE: Opera Rehearsal Room of Krannert Center ($5)

WHEN: Tuesday, Jan. 24 at 10 p.m.

This evening is presented by Prospect Management and Canopy Club, but will be held at Krannert Center. It’ll be a night of EDM featuring young emcees and producers: Light House, DJ Mixerman, and Win & Woo.

Chicago area rapper Cub-J performs his album Pop Off in its entirety on Friday. He’ll be accompanied by DJ $pen and Swill.




WHAT: Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder

WHERE: Virginia Theatre (tickets start at $29.50)

WHEN: Saturday, Jan. 28 at 7:30 p.m.

When legendary bluegrass and country artist Ricky Skaggs was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 1982 at the age of 28, he was the youngest ever to receive that honor. Goofy, mathy indie group The Walters have a brand spanking new album they put out a couple weeks ago. They’ll play a set at Cowboy on Saturday with alternative rock band White Siberian Tigers, who also have some fresh music for you.




WHAT: Just Like Inara album release party

WHERE: Clark Bar (cover)

WHEN: Saturday, Jan. 28 at 9 p.m.

The newly formed Just Like Inara will play from their debut album California Rain at Clark Bar on Saturday, and they’ll be accompanied by lock rockers Slick Lisp.


WHAT: Quiet Riot

WHEN: Saturday, Jan. 28 at 7:00 p.m.

The band name “Quiet Riot” rings a bell for you because of their gigantic hit cover song “Cum On Feel the Noize.” The album that that song was on went platinum SIX TIMES. Girls, rock your boys with this hair metal banger. Get wild, wild, wild… et cetera. You know the rest.


WHAT: Louis the Child

Producer duo Louis the Child are back in C-U after their headlining role at Pygmalion last fall. Since then, they’ve toured the summer festival circuit with majors stops like Lollapalooza, and worked with huge artists like the Chainsmokers. See for yourself how much they’ve grown in five short months.
