Potbelly becomes a new destination for acoustic solo sets this week, as Nick Ailes takes over the sandwich shop right around lunch time. Watch Ailes perform covers as well as originals while enjoying Potbelly’s sandwiches and milkshakes.

WHEN: Monday, July 24th at 12 p.m.

Mondays are for acoustic sets. Hammerhead coffee joins in the acoustic mix with Matt Ellis, another artists sporting covers and originals.


WHAT: Tuesday Jazz

WHERE: Boomerangs Barandgrill (free)

WHEN: Tuesday, July 25th at 7 p.m.

Boomerangs host their weekly jazz sessions on Tuesdays with some of the best jazz musicians in town, this week features Donnie Heitler and Joey Glassman. There’s no cover and great drink specials, come check it out.


WHAT: Summer Rambling

Church Street Ramblers take over The Iron Post this Tuesday. The group specializes in early 20th-century jazz, such as Louis Armstrong and Fats Waller. Come for the music and enjoy the outdoor patio as well.

Are you into electronic, experimental, drone type music? Then you’re definitely going to want to make your way to Blips and Chitz this Wednesday. Wisconsin projects Dead Pawn and adoptahighway come through town on tour to blow your minds, accompanied by local projects Marathon and F_a_c_e__V_a_l_u_e, who will also blow your minds. Total mind blowingness.

Disco for everyone, ranging from the classics to the more modern tunes. Blackbird offers disco every Wednesday night making it a weekly venture, bring your boogie shoes and come on down.

This is an Uncorked session you don’t want to miss at Krannert, featuring Sun Stereo who has been described as “reminiscent of a wedding reception on acid sans the chicken dance.” The variety of wine will be distributed by Marketplace Selections.

Britt Black will be playing in the beer garden at Riggs Beer Company. Black brings a variety of covers and originals. There’s no entry fee and Piato to Go food truck will be there to supply a food option.

This week’s jazz happy hour at Blackbird features The Chip McNeill Sax Pack. The band is one of the areas hottest jazz groups, make this a priority for your Friday night.



WHAT: Charlie & the Possibly Wilds

This will be the first time Charlie & the Possibly Wilds performs their full-length album, why not pair a great performance opportunity with great local beer? Come chill at the Sipyard and be one of the firsts to experience their music in full.

Country artist Chris Young headlines Friday night at the Champaign County Fair. He’ll be supported by Drew Baldridge and Kassi Ashton. Young has put out eight number one singles during his career, bringing a lot of attention to the fair this year. Be sure to grab your tickets sooner than later.


WHAT: JoMyside

Bath House throws one last party/show before one of their residents, Eric Stanley of Euriah, moves out. JoMyside will be coming through town on tour and supported by local solo acts by Eric Stanley and Michael Kramer of The Dry Look. Come for the party and enjoy the music, it’ll be a banger.


WHAT: Krelboyne, Nectar, and Linder

Girls Rock! C-U invites you to watch some local rockers while raising money for future rock workshops. Performances by Krelboyne, Nectar, and Linder, must be 18+ to enter.




WHAT: Music of the Summer of Love

The Music of the Summer of Love is an effort to raise money for next year’s Folk and Roots Festival. It will consist of many different local artists covering folk legends from the 60’s such as Bob Dylan. Come help make the festival possible for another year.

Memphis on Main brings the Dalton Halls Band back for another show. It’ll be a night filled with jazz and drink specials, make sure to stop by if you’re in downtown Champaign.




WHAT: Kassius (Reunion) w/ Lower Automation, Forges, Cardboard Hilltop, and Clvstvrfvck

WHERE: Blips and Chitz ($7)

WHEN: Sunday, July 30th at 8 p.m.

A reunion show for Kassius, their first show in over two years. Out of towners Lower Automation (Chicago) and Forges (Baltimore) come into town for this banger of a show, and of course, are joined by locals Cardboard Hilltop and Clvstvrfvck. This is one to stay out late on a Sunday for.


WHAT: The New and Slightly Used

WHERE: Morrissey Park (free)

WHEN: Sunday, July 30th at 6 p.m.

This Sunday marks the second to last Sounds at Sunset concert. This installment takes place at Morrissey Park and welcomes performances from The New and Slightly Used and Last Call Band. Bring the whole family and a few lawn chairs.
