With work, family, and dreading becoming a college graduate in the current economic climate, who has the time to find out about the best shows happening in Champaign-Urbana? No need to fear, because the editors here at Smile Politely have taken care of it. Here are the must-see shows of the week:

When: Wednesday, April 1

What: Elsinore, Everthus the Deadbeats, Everything, Now!

Where: Mike N Molly’s, 9 p.m., cover tba

Come celebrate alliteration as well as Indiana, as the incomparable, Indianapolis-based Everything, Now! graces C-U with a visit.

When: Thursday, April 2

What: The Mountain Goats, John Vanderslice

Where: Courtyard Café (Illini Union), 8 p.m., $5 UIUC students/ $7

John Darnielle and John Vanderslice play solo sets to kick off the best two days ever at the Illini Union.

When: Friday, April 3

What: The Hold Steady, The War on Drugs

Where: Courtyard Café (Illini Union), 8 p.m., $15 UIUC students/ $17

Still very little information on this sure-to-be-mind-blowing show. According to the Hold Steady’s MySpace there are no advance tickets. More info to come.

When: Saturday, April 4

What: Terminus Victor, Vanattica, Lumus, On Again Off Again, Casados, Stan McConnell, Eleni Moraites

Where: Highdive, 6 p.m., $5

The sixth annual Rock Against Rape benefit show features some fantastic bands with all proceeds benefiting RCS (Rape Crisis Services).
