Jeffery Lewis & The Rain take over the Velvet Elvis tomorrow night. You should check out this article on The Guardian, it’s pretty entertianing. He’s an anti-folk musician and a comic book illustrator, and you can hear his new single “WWPRD” there as well.

WHEN: Thursday, October 3rd at 7 p.m.

Country artist Casey James makes an appearance on U of I’s campus this week for the first Star Course show of the school year. He’s been on tour with Taylor Swift for her Red Tour, and you might recogize him (or not) from performing on American Idol a few years ago. Corey Crowder openings this up on Thursday night.

Indiana melodic hardcore/metal outfit From Cities Above headline at Error Records on Friday night. They released a new single last Sunday called “Meandering”, which you can listen to here. Four others join in, including Minnesota’s Morality Crisis, locals Gonzo Diablo, Lucid Dreams and Orator.

Mike ‘N Molly’s ($7) — Friday, October 4th at 8 p.m.

Vip Deceiver bring their electro-funk driven indie rock to Mike ‘N Molly’s on Friday night for a solid four band show to round out the week. Their new album Medallius is most definitely worth checking out prior to this show later in the week. They’re joined by Blues Control, locals Comfort Food and Kakuru.

Curb Service is hot on the heels of the release of Romeo Jivehis new album released earlier this year. Check out our review and head over and check him out in person at Cowboy Monkey on Friday night. WIth four others, including DJ Belly bookending this show with two DJ sets, this is well worth it.

The next Chalice Dubs Masquerade throws down on Saturday night at the Canopy Club as a late night show to follow the Aaron Carter performance. Main Focus is, well, the main focus of the show on Saturday night, and is joined by a handful of other DJs.

Sunday night show at Error Records features Springfield’s alt-folk outfit Plaid Dragon as the headlining act. They’re joined by blues-rock/alternative outfit Yogi Beara, indie rock band Dog Pilot, and Philiphobia.
