Your guide to Record Store Day 2019

It’s that time again: Record Store Day is coming up Saturday April 13th. There are multiple record stores around town to satisfy your vinyl needs this year, and there will be some solid performances throughout the day as well. Check out the guide below for a look at your options.

See you

See You CD & Vinyl

This year is See You’s first RSD in its new location at 208 W Main St in Urbana. They share the space with Cafe&Co, and want to spread the word that the line for RSD should form in the back of the building, at the main entrance to See You, in the alley they share with Courier Cafe. Their event page has specific directions on how to access this entrance from any direction.

They’ll have 150+ RSD exclusives for sale, not to mention over 100 restocks, and coffee and donuts for the early birds. The shop will open at 7 a.m.

Record swap

Record Swap

Like you may have read about in our recent Splog, or the News Gazette article, Record Swap is officially leaving their current location in July. That makes this the last RSD for Record Swap at 114 E. University. It’s also their 40th anniversary in C-U, and if that’s not enough to entice you, check these sale details:

  • 20% off  all used product
  • 10% off all new product (not including 2019 RSD releases and back room product)

And according to owner Bob Diener, that’s not all you can look forward to:

“We have also opened up our back room for the first time and will be offering a lot of stereo equipment, lots of music-related books, cds, lps, cassettes, 8-tracks, storage containers, and lots of posters. A lot of the posters came out of the green street store in 1999 when we moved and have been stored ever since.  Also, a bunch of pre 1999 T-shirts.”

You can get in on the goods early this year, because the shop is starting the sale on Friday morning and continuing through Sunday, open at 7 a.m. on RSD.

Exile

Exile on Main

Exile on Main is the place to go for shows this RSD (the confirmed lineup is listed below). Exile will have hundreds of special RSD releases, in addition to special discounts. They share space with the beloved Dandelion vintage boutique, so you can easily shop for more than just records while you’re there. Fun starts at 7 a.m.
