5th Annual Kids Sidewalk Chalk Contest is happening August 4th

Next week’s Friday Night Live will feature their annual sidewalk chalk contest, where kids fill the downtown sidewalks with their colorful chalk creations and have the opportunity to win fabulous prizes. Pre-registration, which you can do here, is recommend by noon on August 4th. Check out the details below!

Champaign County — 40 North is proud to present the FREE 5th annual Friday Night Live Kids Sidewalk Chalk Contest on Friday, August 4th! It’s the perfect fun and family-friendly way to spend your night in downtown Champaign! In addition to the chalk competition there will be free face painting, a special community mural for the Ellnora Guitar Festival, and a unique sidewalk chalk masterpiece created live during the event!

Who? KIDS! (pre-K thru 8th)
When? Friday, August 4 (check-in 5:30-6:30pm, finish by 7:15pm)
Where? 1E. Main (in front of Big Grove Tavern)
Why? FREE! Prizes in all 3 age categories!
How? Pre-register at before noon Friday, August 4th

Kids in pre-k – 8th grade will be encouraged to create their own chalk masterpieces! They will be split into the following age groups; pre-k – kindergarten, 1st – 5th, and 6th – 8th. Judges will be hard at work deciding on the winners in each age category. Chalk will be provided.

Check-in is between 5:30 and 6:30pm, drawing must be finished by 7:15pm. Winners will be announced and prizes will be handed out at approximately 8pm. Prizes include passes to Sholem Aquatic Center, passes to Urbana Family Aquatic Center, Jupiter’s pizza party for 8, Virginia Theatre movie tickets, games from Dr. G’s Brainworks, tickets to Recess Monkey show at Krannert Center, art supplies, voucher for CU Adventures, Cornbelters tickets, Pottery Place package, passes to the Indianapolis Zoo, gift cards to TCBY, gift certificate to I-Power Gymnastics, and much much more!

Pre-registration is strongly recommended, but not required. Walk-ups will be very limited.
