The Party for Socialism and Liberation will be hosting a rally in support of reproductive rights on Tuesday, October 4th, at 6:30 p.m. outside the I Hotel and Conference Center.
The rally is happening in response to the Living Alternative Pregnancy Resource Center’s fundraising banquet, which is at the same time. From the press release:
Living Alternatives Pregnancy Resource Center is one of the more than 2,500 anti-choice “crisis pregnancy centers” across the country. While they present themselves as uncontroversial charitable organizations serving pregnant women, avoid disclosing their anti-abortion position publicly, and often use language adopted from the pro-choice movement, in reality these organizations use disinformation and manipulation tactics to pressure women not to have abortions. The Party for Socialism and Liberation calls on the local government of Champaign to take action to stop the harm that LAPRC does to public health and women’s rights in our community.
There are about three times as many crisis pregnancy centers as abortion providers within about an 80 mile radius of C-U. You can read more about how problematic they are here.
