Maize is coupling with nuEra this summer making a one-stop spot for lunch and cannabis. Urbana’s nuEra will host the Maize taco truck Monday through Friday in the dispensary parking lot all summer.
Though I usually go for al pastor tacos from the taco truck, I ordered nachos yesterday.
These carne asada nachos ($14) were banging. The chewy, charred steak was delicious, and the toppings were great. Under squiggles of sour cream, the cheese covered the entire first layer of tortilla chips. The top chips took the brunt of the saucy pinto beans and wilted, but the bottom layers stayed crunchy enough to scoop toppings. The portion was huge — as is usually the case with nachos, and I liked that the pico de gallo and guacamole were in the corners, like a side of guac minus the cup. With chopped tomatoes throughout, the guacamole tasted good with the steak, and the pico de gallo had a nice spicy flavor from chopped jalapeño.
Follow Maize on Instagram for updates on the truck’s schedule and deets on the food. If the truck has a private event (like this Friday), but it won’t be parked at the dispensary.
While I was there, I stopped by nuEra Urbana dispensary, too.
This dispensary serves medical card holders as well as adults 21+. I prefer to use the online pre-order, but there are kiosks inside for walk-ins as well. Not sure what’s good? Ask the nuEra budtenders at the counter who are knowledgable about products, brands, and uses. It should also be said that the coupling of Maize and nuEra is no summer fling; nuEra’s Champaign location is just steps from Maize on Green Street.
