Allerton Park is hosting their annual Irish Fest Concert this Friday at 6 pm. The event features different takes on Irish music from varying acts, as well as food, drink, and family friendly activities. Admission is $5 per person or $10 per family at the gate, not including concessions. Here’s the press release for more information:

Monticello – Allerton Park & Retreat Center will host their Irish Fest Concert, presented by the U of I Community Credit Union, this Friday, June 3 at 6 pm. The event will be held outdoors on the Gate House Lawn at the estate, 515 Old Timber Road, Monticello.

The Shanties will start things off with their “new Irish” music, focusing on up-tempo rowdier melodies with pop Irish influence from Gaelic Storm and Flogging Molly. Then, the award-winning local chorus Amasong will take the stage, followed by The Chicago Rovers’ traditional, contemporary, and original Celtic-oriented music. The Rovers, formed in 1989, combines virtuoso playing, tight harmonies, and infectious good fun in a show that appeals to all ages.

The festive atmosphere will be complete with a Celtic Kids’ Playground, featuring a bounce house, bubbles from “Joyful Bubbles” and a craft activity. Food and drinks will also be available for purchase, including corned beef sliders and the Caribbean Grill Food Truck.

“We hope the community takes advantage of the opportunity to come out and unwind on a Friday night,” explains Derek Peterson, Associate Director at Allerton Park. “It’s great to see groups of friends and families gathering outdoors, enjoying live music in a serene, relaxing setting.”

The concerts are made possible with the support of presenting sponsor, the University of Illinois Community Credit Union, as well as: the News-Gazette, The Ayers Family, Illinois Public Media, Country Arbors, The Friends of Allerton, Kirby Medical Center, AHW LLC, The Atkins Group, Champaign Surplus, Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District (MTD), The Herbold Family Trust, Kelly’s Accounting Service, Inc., Kennedy Hutson Associates, and Sterling Wealth Management.

There is a fee at the gate. Food and drink will be available for purchase and guests should bring blankets or chairs. For the complete 2016 concert schedule and more information visit [email protected] or call (217) 333-3287.
