Parents, if you haven’t talked to your kids about men in vans offering candy to your kids, now’s the time.

“According to police, a 12-year-old girl was walking home from school in the area of Kenwood Road and Sangamon Drive about 4:30 p.m. Monday when a man driving a single-cab Chevrolet pickup truck with two-toned red and white paint pulled up alongside her and offered to give her a ride home. The man was as white, in his 30s, with blond hair and wearing a red shirt under a zippered blue sweatshirt.
The girl refused the ride, stepped away from the truck and ran from the area to contact police.”
