Sure, there’s a big football home opener happening this weekend, and that’s exciting, but don’t miss out on the fútbol home opener on Thursday. Illini Soccer is playing University of North Carolina, ranked third in the nation, in their brand new stadium Demirjian Park.
It’s the 25th anniversary of women’s soccer at U of I, and there will be several alumni honored at the game, including Jill Ellis, the first head coach and former U.S Women’s Team coach. Admission is free, and the game begins at 8 p.m. (hopefully that’ll help beat the heat).
Can’t make it this week? Here are their promotional events this fall, including regular Thursday “Bark in the Park” nights, where you can bring your doggo to the game.
