To celebrate National Poetry Month, artist and poet Shaya Robinson is hosting SPEAK Cafe at Krannert Art Museum. SPEAK (Song, Poetry, Expression, Art, and Knowledge) will be held April 13th from 6 to 7:45 p.m. in the café space of KAM, and will hold space for open-mic performances of poetry, rap, and spoken word. There will also be a space to share artwork as well. This event will be cohosted by Urbana’s current Poet Laureate, Ja Nelle Davenport-Pleasure, an author and spoken word poet. It’s free, and participants are invited to share their own work or sit back and observe.
