Celebrity Server and Chef Fundraiser to benefit the Summer Youth Employment Program

Merry Ann’s Diner will host a Celebrity Server and Chef Fundraiser event to benefit the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP), which provides job training and career exploration opportunities for adolescents from Champaign Unit 4 Schools. The event will feature public officials, media personalities, and sports figures as wait staff and chefs. The dates and times of the event are as follows:

Monday, May 19th, 2014
6 a.m.-2 p.m.
Merry Ann’s Downtown Champaign location (1 E. Main Street)

Tuesday, May 20th, 2014
6 a.m.-2 p.m.
Merry Ann’s original location (1510 S. Neil)

Merry Ann’s will donate 100% of the proceeds from this event to SYEP. This donation will assist SYEP in their effort to expand the program to include students placed on a waitlist.

The Summer Youth Employment Program provides work readiness and job skills training to youth in Champaign Unit 4 schools through the completion of a six-week job placement program with a local business. Currently in its fourth year, SYEP works with over 70 local businesses and serves approximately 150 students. The program is a collaborative effort between the City of Champaign and the Champaign Unit 4 School District.
