Champaign County Circuit Clerk: Susan McGrath vs. Katie Blakeman

About the Circuit Clerk:

From Champaign County Circuit Clerk’s website:

The Champaign County Circuit Clerk’s Office keeps all Circuit Court records and collects all court-related fines and fees. The Office connects the judicial system and the public. The Clerk provides court records to people in the court system. The Clerk also makes these records available to the public.

About Susan McGrath:

Susan McGrath has lived in Champaign County since 1976. She’s a two time graduate of the University of Illinois, receiving her BA in 1978 and JD in 1982. She currently works in the support enforcement divison of the State’s Attorney’s Office.

From McGrath’s website:

The Circuit Clerk’s office is an integral part of the Courthouse team. My experiences as both an attorney and as an active part of our community provide a solid foundation to serve Champaign County as the Circuit Clerk.

For many people, the Clerk’s office is their first contact with the Court system. Courts are now embracing technology in new ways, from the use of electronic filing and record keeping, to virtual hearings, to the advancement of self-help and consumer-friendly support programs. I look forward to being part of the team leading Champaign County in these efforts.

Blakeman was born and raised in Champaign County, graduating from Augustana College and later from Unviersity of Illinois with an MS. She worked in the private sector before joining the Division of Student Affairs at the University of Illinois. She won re-election in 2016.
