Champaign Rotary Clubs are donating $37,000 for school supply kits

The Champaign and Champaign West Rotary Clubs are tapping into the Champaign County Rotary Responds Fund to allocate $37,000 for distance learning school supply kits for students in Champaign County.

From the press release:

This initiative will serve 5000 students in Champaign County, with some residing in Urbana and Rantoul. The distance learning school supplies include essentials such as markers, crayons and paper.

Champaign Rotary Club and Champaign West Rotary Club established the Champaign County Rotary Responds Fund in April of 2020. This fund allowed the Clubs and individual Rotarians to make donations to address future community needs in response to the coronavirus pandemic. Champaign Rotary Club donated $25,000 to the fund and Champaign West Rotary donated $10,000. Since April, individual Rotarians donated $2000 to bring the Fund’s total to $37,000.

This Friday, April 21st, members of Champaign West Rotary will be packaging the kits from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Unit 4 Windsor Administration Building.
