Last June, Willard Airport announced that American Airlines was adding an additional service to Charlotte Douglas International Airport, and that service begins this week. Customers were able to begin booking trips in July, and Thursday will be the inaugural flight.
The Charlotte Airport is American Airlines’ second largest hub, and will open up more connecting options for C-U travelers. You’ll have to get up a little early to take advantage — the CMI to CLT flight leaves at 5:45 a.m. — but it’s great to have the convenience of an airport just down the road where you won’t be dealing with crowds and long security lines.
