Today, February 22nd is National Margarita Day. If you observe this boozy holiday, Champaign-Urbana has you covered with great margaritas all over town.
The margs pictured above are from Huaraches Moroleon: the strawberry margarita, spicy margarita, and mango margarita. I love the margs here, and the Urbana gem has great food, too.

Maize at The Station has a special on lime margaritas today in honor of the holiday. I usually go for the spicy mango at Maize, but I do like the lime margaritas, too, and for $6? Sign me up. They’ll also have pineapple whiskey-ritas and half priced appetizers all day today — including the restaurant’s delicious mole chicken wings.

The margaritas are gigantic at La Mixetca, and they’re pretty good. The Urbana restaurant has plenty of flavor options: strawberry, mango, spicy mango, peach, tamarin, raspberry, and banana flavors in addition to the house lime margarita.

Another great place to get a margarita is at Esquire Lounge. The frozen pineapple margarita is sweet and made with Esquire’s famous pineapple infused tequila.

Also in Downtown Champaign, the Mexican seafood restaurant La Bahía has good margaritas and tasty ceviche.

Don’t forget about the margarita tower at Las Palmas off North Prospect. It’s 88 ounces of whatever flavor margarita you want. The spout makes it dangerously easy to drink a lot of margaritas, so bring friends.

Finally, Fiesta Cafe on First Street has more than 160 kinds of tequila and thirteen flavors besides lime. I like Fiesta’s Herradurra reposado margarita best, but all the margs are good here.
