Community Foundation of East Central Illinois is looking to award grants to area nonprofits in the areas of arts and humanities, environment, education, health and human services, urban affairs and youth activities. One of last year’s recipients was Urbana Neighborhood Connection Center. They used the funds to purchase sewing machines for their Sewing and Believing Project.
Their Community Commitment grants, funded by donors, are typically $500 to $7500. This year they have $100,000 to distribute. Organizations have until August 31st to submit proposals, and the the proposal should:
- Suggest practical approaches to addressing community problems
- Promote collaboration and cooperation among agencies
- Generate community support, both professional and volunteer
- Strengthen an agency’s effectiveness or stability
